The Best Boat Speakers?

I own a Back Cove 29 and would like to hear who makes the best boat speakers. Who has an informed opinion?

Phew... hmm.... you'd want a poly midrange/bass a probably titanium (JBL or Infinity) tweeters. Years ago strictly boat speakers sounded like ^**$# though maybe the boat industry and manufacturers have woken up to quality drivers.

Here in Michigan they have many boat clubs, once a year on Lake St.Clair they have a boat stereo competition. Perhaps you can find a boat club in your area or attend a similar boat show. Just like our home hobby, boat audio can be quite expensive. Some of the large yachts employ home audio systems. Depends on the size of your wallet and your boat. You will have to be more specific..... I'll try to find the link for you, I think this year a JL audio system won. You can try this website, not sure if it helps.

I am not an expert but I know JL Audio is highly respected in the boating circles I run in. I can't hear the stereo over the music of the exhaust.

Yep I was just going to suggest the same thing...I have heard the JL Audio Marine speakers in a showroom but not out in the water. They did sound very comparible to their car audio though which is really good

MB Quart 6.5" and JL Audio 10" subs. Both are marine speakers. I would take the time to make enclosures for the JL subs even though they are sold as free-air subs. You will need plenty of power to be able to here the music clearly while cruzin'. I would suggest no less than 100 watts per channel for 6.5" and 300 watts per channel for the subs. McIntosh makes some very fine mobile/car amplifiers. I have a couple MCC602TM 300x2, and a MCC302 150x2. Absolutely the best sound car amp I have ever owned, or heard.
