Default New MC275 shuts down unexpectedly

Loving my new MC275. But I may have a problem with it shutting itself down. It's 3 weeks old, and until a couple of days ago I was originally controlling power via the power control connector and my C22. A couple of days ago I disconnected the power control so that I could take advantage of the auto off feature in forgetful moments.

Oddly, over the past couple of days it has shut itself off unexpectedly 3 times. My listening sessions have not been particularly long nor loud, my living room not particularly warm. It comes back on right away when I flick the power switch.

I've thought about just going back to the power control via the C22 to see if that will fix the problem, but I'm afraid it may just mask the symptom (unexpected shutdown) of an underlying issue.

Any thoughts? Would like to get this resolved while I can still take advantage of 30 day exchange policy on defective products.

Thanks

Yes I would definitely get to the bottom of the problem before switching back to the C22 control.

Have you tried re-sitting the tubes? Maybe one or more isn't seated properly. Perhaps you have a bad tube issue?

But maybe you should just take it back to have it looked over properly. Could be an issue on the inside of the amp.

New amp. Three weeks old. Bring this to your dealers attention.

I would expect the amp to shut off if a power tube was failing. But given your chronology, I’d doubt that’s the problem. I echo the suggestion to make sure all tubes are properly seated.

Don't let that 30-days exchange pass you by.

I’m guessing here but it’s probably a tube failing. Infant mortality strikes in the first 100 to 200 hours. A tube can fail, cool down, be fine, and fail again later.
Time to take it to the dealer for resolution.

Does it shut itself off only when music isn't playing" If that is the case I thought it would shut itself off if there is 10 minutes or more of no activity.

According to the owner's manual, the Power Save Circuitry will automatically shut off the amp after 30 minutes of no activity.
