Yes, big dream of mine to own the XRT2K... But that'll mean I'll be sleeping on the couch for a few years... Hmmm... Maybe a nice lounge chair, in between the XRT2ks....

That'll work!

Best speakers ever designed technically IMHO.

Dan, its a big upgrade all around, you know this. To do it right, according to the rep, is to have three MC1.2K per channel or tri-amp. He said the same thing Ivan said about "current control" because I was a bit snarky in my question of can I run a MC275 with these.. The answer was "yes, but" I am sure he wanted to Batman slap me "you really should consider the MC452 and up."

The other rep went on to say one of the best ways to setup the XR200s was to use two MC303s and a C2300(orC2500) and triamp the XR200s. I was excited to hear that.

I would disagree, albeit not entirely. Tri-amp mc1.2kw will cost as much as an mc2kw, and there's a significant difference in sound, advantage to mc2kws. Nevertheless, I've not heard xrt2kws on anything less than mc1.2kws. I wonder how it will fare with mc452s, or mc601s. Tri-amp mc303 is very tempting, however the mc303 isn't a balanced design, and hence the deep and high contrast mcintosh sound will not be present. It's like running mc 302s on tri-amp, which in my opinion, isn't better than mc452s on bi-amp, and single amp drive with higher wattage and a better circuitry design. Personally, I will be happy with mc452s on xrt2ks, confident with "upgrading" jumpers, and cables to let the current flow well.

I've also even heard bi-amp of top model krells into Xrt2k, and it is fantastic too, not half as refined as the mcintosh, but bass is heavy, thumpy, deep, though lacks mid, and "grainy" highs.

If you read in the XRT2K Manual, they have the directions for an XRT2k and a Tri, Tri, TRIAMP MC2K setup.

Yes! That's top top tier audio heaven. I doubt I'll be able to listen to that in my lifetime though. Maybe when I go beyond this life I will! Hahaha!

This was at the Concours D'Elegance at Amelia Island.

There is a dealer in the north fla that has them on demo.

Still thinking about the XR200? Or Signature SE?
