Okay so why do we change the model number to 1.25K and not the power rating or the meter? On previous models the model number correlates to the power rating, i.e. MC501 MC601, MC2kw, etc. Seems this model should be rated at 1,250 watts with the meter reference level 1.25k instead of 1.2k. Looks like they just didn't want to change the meter....?
This is the one thing that jumped out at me immediately when I first looked at this amp.

It’s like Mercedes and BMW. In the old days, the model number gave an indication of the engine size (e.g. a BMW 528i had a 2.8 litre engine, a Mercedes E300 a 3 litre engine, etc). The current BMW 530i has a 2 litre engine and the current Mercedes S450 has a 3 litre engine... It’s all marketing and slightly depressing!

I am using a 1.25KW as a subwoofer amp in my upgraded system. It sets between my 1.2KW's. In my opinion it is not worth the trouble to upgrade from the 1.2's. The 601's may have been more needy of increased capacitance being only 600 watts. But the 1.2's are not even remotely stressed in driving my Alexxes to ear splitting levels. They don't even get slightly warm. In fact my 1.25 runs a little hotter than my 1.2's in my opinion which is surprising. The 1.25 is a beautiful amp. I really like it.
