Vienna Acoustics are not a poor mans Sonus Faber, they are pretty good in their own right, but that really doesn't mean you'll like them.
A few years ago I bought three pair of Beethoven Concert Grands for my HT system, but I got rid of them after a few weeks. Gave two pair to my nephew and one pair to my mom. I felt the constant need to turn them up, laid back was a mild way to describe them. They both loved the speakers, so I don't know what that tells you. I also owned a pair of Mahler's. These are a very good speaker, but with the two tens on the sides they take real work to get the sound just right. Mid-range is real sweet, but the bass in my room was bloated, so I sold them off, but I should not have. I should have moved them into the room I use now with the room treatments I have. I've even tried to buy them back, to no avail. Mike175gr has a pair of these and loves them. People wax poetic about speakers on the internet, mostly to justify their spending money, but often my reality seems far removed from theirs after I go listen to the speakers described.
