jdandy, I hope we're just having fun. It was just a reference. I should have added that "their advice" was 90 db for 8 hours. Helpful to people in factories etc. I listen as loud as I want to. My life/my ears.
Yes, that was the secret, not the efficiency but the tube friendly, benign impedance curve. My current Wilson Sasha are more efficient but they brutalize the amps with their 1.8 ohm dips.

Onemug.......Just having some fun. Although we all know one of the worlds biggest lies is, "I'm from the US government, and I'm here to help you."

Trust me, as a retired electrical contractor, I am well versed in the government's noise level limits. That, and many more OSHA regulations were adhered to every single day. I always provided hearing protection, eye protection and fall protection for all employees, plus continuous training, observation, and supervision to insure safety was paramount.

The plan was to use this amp to power a ribbon tweeter on a custom pair of 2 ways (300b on the mid/woofer) that uses an active crossover. The amp was new to me and I wanted to check out its stability before I direct coupled it to my ribbon. I'm enjoying this so much, I have left it in.

Point is: You don't "have" to have megawatt amps to get a musicaly engaging sound out of the GH's. For this to work out, room size and spl will be the limiting factors.

Believe it or not.
I totally agree, as a SET fan myself I am using a little bit more power in order to get the dynamics i think necessary but as for SPL levels it’s more than enough

Sonus, yes, welcome also. (Gotta love the name.)

What speakers are you using with your SET's?
