I'll second the Sanders amps, they are a very good amp that is purpose built for those speakers. Having heard the Sanders set-up with the 3.7's it is a match made in heaven.

I was struggling to to find a couple non-megabuck mono blocks that like Maggies, the JC-1s have worked out nicely with the 3.7s.

..and I'm hoping they'll be fine on the 20.7s as well.

That initial Valin review was a bit unclear on everything except on how the 20.7s were better in every way than the 3.7s. Will be great to hear your take on it.

The dealer who imports Magnepans here also carries both Parasound and Sanders amps... he reckons you have to move up to a Griffen or a similar level in SS amps to do noticeably better than either of these with the Maggies... I'll probably be spending more on upgrading power, cables, preamp or source before I go putting any big $$$ on upgrading amps... bigger gains to be made in these areas I'm thinking.

I will be hopefully be helping him on the set up of pair of 20.7s shortly in a system with Griffen A class mono's so that will give me some idea at any rate.

Congrats again...

In the event you decide to consider alternatives to the JC-1s, I HIGHLY recommend you take a look at Sanders Magtech monos. They are designed specifically for magnetic planars (and do a hell of a job with estats and pretty much everything else out there as well). They're a bit of an investment but certainly not over-priced wrt performance and sound.

Cheers
I've heard good recommendations about the Sanders amps in the past as well, would definitely consider them in the future!

I could easily live with the 3.7s forever.

I was surprised about the long wait for the 20.7s

I think they still spend a few weeks on each model or something like that, so, in the end it might be a fairly long time frame to when the get round to building the next batch of whatever model. At least that's what I thought they did in the past... but who knows.

Rayooo

Apart from Russell have you come across any other AA members who have 20.7's?

I've not heard a peep from anyone else on 20.7s My dealer says he has a few on order ahead of me for others, but that's it.

I'm assuming between now and Aug or Sept. There will be more reports.

I originally ordered the 3.7's middle of last year; they did not arrive so I switched to 20.7's around Jan/Feb this year. The earlier 3.7's lot has not been here at my local distributor in Bangkok yet.

I expect my 20.7's to arrive near New Year 2013, perhaps.

Klao

Yikes! That's a long wait! Have you decided what amps you will use to drive those beauties?

I know Magnepan run at a snails pace, but that's just crazy. I guess a good problem to have for a company these days .. (more orders than production capability)
