Sounds like things are moving fast. You’ve gone from an exploratory trip to complete move in pretty good time. Good luck with the rest of it, I hope you continue to have smooth sailing.

Congrats Michael

It looks like the wife and I will be making a move before the year is out too. We are in the process of picking out a lot and working with a builder for a move to Taylors, SC. Will be my first move outside of the town I was born in and retired in after 65 years. The wife came here to FSU for grad school in 1974 and will be a move after 45 years for her. The de-cluttering and sale process just started.

We lived in our old house 22yrs, had stuff in every nook and cranny. We faced down-sizing with a vengeance. Thought it would never end. Audio and model trains were a given, they had to be part of our new home. Luckily we had space for the Mustang!!! Life is good, retirement was the right choice

Congrats Michael!
3 1/2 years ago we went through the same process you are going through now. Lots of details to cover and issues to resolve. Great to see you are on top of it.

The hardest part for us was culling stuff out of our 4500 sq ft 4 bedroom suburban home to fit in our 2000 sq ft Colorado home. We didn’t get rid of enough, so we moved a bunch of stuff to Colorado only to end up selling it. Cost $0.50/Lb to move it.

Thank you, gents.

We are trying very hard to not move anything that 1) won't fit in the new house, 2) we haven't used in recent memory, and 3) are of little to no value that create clutter. All that stuff has been kicked to the curb.

The Mrs. was sort of distressed with the decluttering and divestiture processes but eventually turned the corner and got a bit ruthless near the end.

Michael.......By May you will be enjoying life like never before. All the BS will be behind you and your wife. Best of luck with this new phase of life. There is nothing better than having complete ownership of your time.

Thanks for the kind words, gents.

I'm hoping that we will be well settled in by mid-March with very few final details to deal with.

We haven't made a long distance move, or sold a house and moved, in almost 30 years. Things sure have changed!

Congrats Michael on your new lease on life. Exciting times ahead, plus AZ is not a bad place to reroot your life. If you are a hiker checkout Aravaipa Canyon near Tucson - permits required. Monsoon season can be a bit intimidating but each region has their weather anomalies. Soon you will be settled back into your newfound routine with your feet up and wondering where the time went.

Well, you picked a great area - but i'm a wee bit biased! I've lived a lot of places, including Europe - AZ is by far my favorite.

Let me know when the dust settles and we can meet up at Joes in downtown Gilbert for some BBQ.
