Do you have diffusers on the wall that is close to your speaker? By adding some,
it could create an effect of having less of a wall and thus expanding the presentation.

thanks again for the discussion.

I had some time to shift the speakers around my room a bit. As set up, the right side tweeter (Tannoy GRF90) is about 3' from the side wall -- as I mentioned the left side is open to the dinning room. Both speakers are about 4' from the front wall. I experimented with sliding the pair to the left (away from the right wall) but keeping them the same distance apart, as well as sliding just the left speaker closer to the right speaker. I moved the right side incrementally until it was unto 5' from the side wall and toed in to my listening position at various flat and extreme angles. ...no dice, I still perceive the image is still continuously 10°-20° to the right.

I have not had a chance to set a dealer or get to a friends system to test. Traveling a lot with work these days.

I have no dedicated room treatments. I have shaped speakers side to side and swapped amp channels and inputs, and sources... All one at a time to test.

You mentioned above that you swapped speakers and amplifier channels etc.......the image still pulled to the side when you conducted these tests?

Correct. I swapped speakers and channels one at a time to test channel balance and to check speaker output.

Yes, see my post above. Do you use hearing aids?

Have you tried to move only the left speaker closer or a little further from the front wall.

No I don't. Generally, my hearing is pretty good, and I have no other negative effects in daily life.

I have tried moving it closer. However, this seems a like just another way of compensating -- I currently compensate with the Balance adjustment on my Luxman. Should the listener not always be equal distance from the two drivers?

No. That is a ‘rule of thumb’ to get you started. I suggest you reset the balance on your Luxman and as mentioned before. Pull the left speaker towards you. For the 10-20 deg you state, that shouldn’t require much. Perhaps a few cm...

Let your ears tell you. THEN, forget that they are not perfectly symmetrical in your room! Just enjoy that sweet spot.
