After having a wonderful Chris Botti morning, (my wife's request)

It was on to Dean Martin who I have not listened to in at least a decade or longer. Have to say, it was a nice way to spend the hour with Roon shuffling and playing what it thinks is best Dean Martin.

Enjoying great success in music, film, television, and the stage, Dean Martin was less an entertainer than an icon, the eternal essence of cool. A member of the legendary Rat Pack, he lived and died the high life of booze, broads and bright lights, always projecting a sense of utter detachment and serenity; along with Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr. and the other chosen few who breathed the same rarefied air, Martin -- highball and cigarette always firmly in hand -- embodied the glorious excess of a world long gone, a world without rules or consequences. Throughout it all, he remained just outside the radar of understanding, the most distant star in the firmament; as his biographer Nick Tosches once noted, Martin was what the Italians called a menefreghista -- "one who simply does not give a f***."

Default What are you listening to tonight

Mank (Original Musical Score) WITH EXTRAS, by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross

40’s style Hollywood Big Band and Jazz played on period instruments and tracks with a more modern TR&AR flavor, but acoustic...this bandcamp version features over 3 hours of music...most tracks aren’t that long but are pure genius in emotional delivery

Very unexpected in style and execution, wouldn’t be surprised if they are nominated for an Academy Award

Listening to Tea for the Tillerman 2 and The Laughing Apple both recent releases by Cat Stevens/Yusef and both have good music and decent recordings.

Also, has anyone listened to The Black Pumas, if not give them a listen they have a 2 CD compilation out that is really good, somewhat of a throwback to the 60's and 70's R&B and Soul.

Listening to my nephew, Phil Breen, on keyboards on the You Tube channel playing live with Russell Batiste on "Friday from the Funky Uncle" in NOLA. Like his father, totally grey at 32. Doing a good job, even if I say so myself. As a musician, likely as badly hurt economically as any group in the pandemic.
