I think Jim is still upset about somebody having a different view.
Don't worry Jim your opinions have no value to me.

Had my 5s for about a month. Approx 100 hours on them. The bass seems to have dropped out a bit. Anyone else had this problem? Break-in process?

Possibly but I might not have noticed this. As I accumulate hours, the bass actually loosen up nicely, with more bloom but with no decrease in definition. However, once in a while, I had slightly bass, usually accompanied with less than best quality overall sound. I attributed that to poor AC supplies.

Yes same happened to me - then shortly afterward the bass came back better than before (tighter faster and seemed to extend lower).

PLK.......Thank you for taking the time to read the AA forum rules and for pointing this out.

You are correct, an active link to other forums or blogs is against AA rules.

This is exactly why I do not listen AT ALL to new speakers before they reach 300h mark. With my old Sophias 2, I have even put them back to crates (with the cables connected), playing ocean waves for 2 or 3 weeks.

Leave the speaker playing like this 24/7 and it is almost fully cooked just after 2-3 weeks time.

I also do the same with all DACs - I leave them connected 24/7 to my TV tuner via TosLink input for at least 300h before attempting any critical listening.

From the S5 Owner's Manual:

Quote:
BREAK-IN
A LOUDSPEAKER IS A MECHANICAL DEVICE AND AS SUCH REQUIRES AN EXTENDED INITIAL PERIOD OF NORMAL USE DURING WHICH A NOTICEABLE IMPROVEMENT IN SOUND QUALITY WILL OCCUR. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE THE BREAK-IN PROCESS BY PLAYING SINE WAVES, TONE SWEEPS, BREAK-IN CDS OF ANY SORT, OR OTHER GENERATED SIGNALS.
