Issue with Roon Build 165
There is an issue with the new build from Roon, build 165 that was recently released. A few users including me have reported that DSD over DoP drivers will no longer play at DSD level. This is how the drivers from Benchmark as well as many others, work. The only way to play DSD albums is to convert to PCM, 176.4.
I have verified that these albums play just fine at DSD levels with JRiver. The issue happened as soon as Roon updated to the new build. Hopefully Roon will address this issue ASAP! |

The folks at Roon are working on a solution. In the mean time they sent me files to rollback my server and controller to build 161 which works perfect!

Issue with Roon Build 165
Randy: I'll go look on the Roon forum as well, but what do you mean by "play at DSD level"? Is that your way of saying won't play DSD? Level to me references a scale of something, loudness, impedance, distortion, etc.
I know they'll figure it out. They took care of my issue with ASIO crashing with sample rate switching on playlists on build 165. Just for grins I switched my Esoteric from "Native" to "DSD over PCM v1.0" and sure enough, no sound and it displayed 176k. Bummer. Steve

With Roon build 165 DSD files will not play using Benchmark ASIO DoP drivers. It appears that other DACs are affected as well. I have to set Roon to convert to PCM for DSD files to play. Therefore the DAC actually is playing DSD files as PCM 176.4, not DSD. Several people have reported this issue. The good folks at Roon are working on the issue and have in the mean time sent files that roll back to build 161 which plays DSD files perfect in Native DSD.

Thanks, got it. The word "level" really doesn't mean anything here. Just clarifying. I understood the situation from the first post and hope Mike and team can take care if it quickly. You are loyal to Roon and a great advocate. They need to take care of you!

Roon posted in our thread that they have a fix and are doing QA to assure that all is good before releasing it.
"Hey guys, We have implemented a fix and will be sending it to QA soon. Hoping to release it as soon as it's fully tested. Again, sorry for the trouble here" |

Affects dsd playback on my psaudio direct stream also. Would love to hear when you guys think this is fixed (in case I miss it elsewhere).
Thanks. |

The latest info I posted above... they are about to start QA on a fix and will release as soon as they are sure all is ok. In the mean time they have posted files to revert back to build 161 for anyone needing them. Build 161 works just fine.
I will definitely post an update when a "fixed" new version has been released. |
