AeroSmith...really happy for you. Sounds like you have found musical bliss. I am guessing once your dealer buddy comes around and does the Wilson setup procedure you will cross over into musical nirvana . I can't imagine what the Maxx3s are going to sound like, especially with all the new ancillary equipment . Enjoy it to the fullest.

wow! congratulations! beautiful to say the least!
Aerosmith, approximately how big are those crates ? dimensions ? wow, they look huge ?
How many layers of protection are there into the speakers ? Are the rolling feet included in the package ?
I can't wait to hear your comments once they get to break in.
Congrats again!

Congratulations on the speakers. Good to hear they are even better than you expected.

Thanks. The crates are about one foot higher and one foot wider and one foot deeper than the speakers. The Soph3s were plastic wrapped and in plastic bags surrounded by foam blocking. On casters. They come with a spike kit and a tool kit. Very easy to unpack.

Aerosmith, I was thinking about getting Sasha's but after hearing your intial comments, I might go for the Sophia V3s. I would pair it with LAMM 1.2s and EMM Labs source. I know it's early but how do you think the Sophia's compare to the Sasha's in a mid-size room? Great looking system and speakers!

I certainly don't have the most experience with the Sasha. But I have heard it on a number of occasions now.

The most recent was at my dealer's house. I'd actually gone to visit him to listen to the MAXX3s in his shop. But the room those were in was too small. And they really couldn't flex their low end muscle. What ultimately sold me on the MAXX3s was listening to the Sashas in my dealer's own living room. Incredibly smooth with very deep bass! They were in a decent sized room. I felt they gave me a sense of what the MAXX3s might hold in store in my big room. The Sashas sold me on the MAXX3s.

In a way, they also sold me on the Soph3s. I needed something more for our family room, a system that I listen to a lot. But I also have kids that use that system a LOT too. It's the family room after all. So I wanted simple and more forgiving. And I wanted something about 10 crackers down in price for my kids to bump into and my cats to claw.

Thus far I'm liking the Soph3s more than my friend's Sashas. What a bonus! But I think that may have more to do with my ARC DSi200 vs. his Electrocompaniet integrated. I think the ARC has more balls than the Norwegian integrated. A possible interesting comparison of integrated amps in its own right....

But I know which speaker my dealer likes best. And that's the Sasha. Which in his shop he often pairs with the DSi200. He says two woofers are better than one.

aerosmith

How similar & different are the Sasha from the Sophia 3s ?
The price difference is quite big nonetheless.

Well, they basically share a tweeter and midrange. So the sound is very similar.

The Sasha has about three time the bass radiating area. So bass definition and dynamics are distinctly better with the Sasha. And the Sasha has the ability to precisely align the tweeter/mid-range based upon your listening position and setup geometry. So soundstaging is a bit better in the sweet spot.
