Default ARC Ref250's

I have a pair of Ref250's arriving in about 24 hours. Pics to follow! They will have the KT120 tubes. When it's time to re-tube, KT150's will be in order!

Congratulations! What made you go for the 250's, and what did you use before that?

I auditioned the ref75 on my SF futuras and it just ran out of gas at high SPL's. The futuras go very low, so the extra horsepower will be nice to have! Used to drive my futuras with Mc MC501's behind the Ref5SE. Didn't feel like it was a great match, so now it'll be all ARC. I'll use the three MC501's to drive my center and surrounds behind the Mc MX151. I use the "processor loop" function on the ARC Ref5SE for multi-channel.

I upgraded from 75s to 250 and they play very nice at low SPL and have unlimited power. Just received KT150s and will swap them in next day or two.

Wow - maybe the Futura's aren't as sensitive as the Sasha's, because I can't imagine running out of steam in my system. But I believe you. Congratulations, I am looking forward to your thoughts after you put them into your system.

sir, when you upgraded from REF75 to 250 in terms of tonality, details, refinement, etc was there a difference from the smaller amp to the bigger amp? i know in terms of power the 250 is superior but how about the other aspects of sound ?
Im in a dilema whether to go w/ the 75 or the 150. At the back of my head, nice to have bigger power... but i dont want to sacrifice quality as well by going with more power.

Thanks

I did not find much difference in sound quality between 75 and 250 but 250s drove my system with ease and authority.

It comes down to your speakers and room (again). My Ref 75 does just fine in my room with my speakers. there's no struggling or clipping. The needles don't even move!
