Sorry Charles, I don't understand the logic here, but we can leave it at that.
BTW, the M9 weight is 1000 lbs (no need to guess it's published). It is mainly CF not aluminum, and it does ship in several parts. |

That is exactly what Charles indicated. He was pondering what the M9 "would" have weighed had they stayed with a aluminum design and not moved to CF.

I dont know how you can knock a speaker design for not having rear ambience drivers. It's not the magico MO.

This might be the necessary motivation for me to buy. a few lottery tickets. I haven't bought any in over 20 years. I am afraid the $270.00 I won the last time won't be near enough.

I always thought the purpsose of a loud speker system was to accurately portray what is recorded. Be it a disc , LP, Digital Stream, master tape, etc. Why them would you want to add anomalies to the sound by having rear facing drivers. Now if you want to create a concert hall experience out of todays dry to articulate recordings I can agree with you. But wouldn't it be nice to turn that feature on or off. You might as well by the best speakers you can afford and add either analog or digital processing to get the final sound you like. Whats the difference between electronic and acoustical manipulation? It just depends on the degree of sophistication and application and whether or not you like the final results.

So Magico is making these plutocratic bespoke M9 speakers for Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg and Larry Ellison.

I would hope is to improve the state of the art and to fix short comings they have in their other speakers first. Using new materials is always an expensive undertaking at first. Sometimes what you design on paper and what think will work, won't! So you have to build one to see for sure. Its like Magnaplanar building a 30.7. Or Klipsch building a Jubilee or Roger Russell building the IDS column with out using crossovers. Imagine applying Wolfs speaker technology to a full range 4 inch driver and using it in Rogers full range column.

The M9 seems to be made to go with the new SAT TT/TA combination (~$240K). Am guessing the SAT will see slow sales until someone announces their new $60K cartridge. A mere $13K cartridge would be so unfitting.
