I really did it.

Made a little upgrade.

Changed the 4 biamping-amps from 601 to 611 and ordered the new MX-170.

That's a "little upgrade"?

Congrats!

Absolute congrats! I am happy for you. Mac amps are among the world's most beautiful and the Mac sound is wonderful. If you can post some pics when they arrive.

Why do some people not favor the Autoformers on the 611’ or any of the Macintosh amps? What I hear from some is it changes the way the speaker manufacturer’s intended sound characteristics. I hope I’m making sense.

Which audio rack do you have? Looks like carbon shelf?

Thanks

that looks like a solidsteel rack, though I don't recognize his shelves, maybe a discontinued style... but I'm actually impressed at the weight bearing going on here... as I have the same system (effectively) and the weight I'm asking mine to carry is significantly less as I've only got the one amp... he's got that thing carrying 3? plus a rather heavy preamp? all that sitting on those 4 little points of contact at the bottom!

When I asked SolidSteel about my setup, they said it was just barely with in tolerance for their approved weight on the HF-4..

Impressive how much those little points can handle!

Now that is uncanny and weird... wonder who's design came out first? Both brands look identical and are made in Italy.... no coincidence that is.

Can the 611 entire backlight turn off?

The logo and labels remain on for MC601, even when the meter light is off.

Nope. It's only the meter light being switched off. Other logo's are illuminated.
