When people drive mine they are surprised at the torque and gliding feeling. I like never having to get gas and I just plug it in overnight in my garage.

The torque in electric cars is 100% from the first e-motor revolution unlike the internal combustion engines which needs to rev to build torque/HP.

And by 2050 the number of nuclear power plants is likely to increase drammatically (a guess) to answer the demand for all the charging stations and our increasing demand for power...noone talks about that little related fact....
Solar and wind will help alot but unless we radically change our entire system of thought and execution, electric cars will help but will drag other concerns along....FWIW, IMHO. Don't get me wrong...I am in favor of the changes however I think that we need to do more to be better overall for our planet. I'd love a high end Tesla or BMW or other equipped like this but predictbly most of the best choices are priced out of reach or at least common sense... |

Rules for making predictions state--always UNDER predict, That way your prediction is not limited by the time you predict coming and going without the prediction taking place. So, if you predict the world will come to an end, don't say it will blow up December 21 2012 because that will come to pass without an effect. Say it will blow up in December 21 2112. That way no one alive can say you were wrong. Hybrids are more likely than pure electrics. Where does everybody think the power to charge the batteries in electric comes from, the air? Most comes from burning coal, oil, hydro and nuclear. Some will be solar and some will be wind. I really doubt electric cars will save much energy. Also, when charging can take place anywhere in 5 minutes like filling a gas tank people will be more likely to buy them but for now, pure electrics are not user friendly for road trips--and people either don't want or cannot afford having a commuter car for short trips and another car for longer road trips. Atomic/nuclear energy is clean and green other than mining for uranium and waste/storage of spent fuel rods. The big drawback is of course the danger it presents if something goes wrong. Still there are over 440 nuclear plants on this planet.
What we don't talk about is the amount of actual live nuclear bomb testing that has gone on since 1945 but this puts into perspective. A Time-Lapse Map of Every Nuclear Explosion Since 1945 https://youtu.be/LLCF7vPanrY |

Not wanting to get political here....apologies sought in advance. The waste/storage of spent fuel rods and disaster related concerns (Three Mile, Chernobyl, Fukashima, many others...) is the most troubling of all. Many containment/storage facilities are more than showing their age and there is a bigger problem out there I fear than anyone is talking about / being allowed to... |

Can't find the video at the moment but Elon Musk was completely serious that the whole US can be powered with solar panels/battery energy storage facility and all that is needed in terms of space is... That little red box on the map.
