I would think they'd be very pleased to receive the update and to know what fine gear they'll be associating with!

Thank you for sharing Jim.
This is a terrific project. We are eagerly waiting for pics. So far the photographs in this thread are agreeable but I was thinking more of audio pics.

No audio pics yet - just the outside of boxes with great speakers in a storage unit.
It’ll only take me a year or so to get to actual audio pictures. |

Well, the thought of selling the TAD CR-1s made me sad. Then, aha!, I had the idea of "consolidating" with an integrated (Accuphase E-650) and running a smaller system in the rental house while we build. After we complete the build, I'll bring out the A-200s and the C-3800 to play with the TAD R-1s and have a "systemcito" elsewhere in the house running the CR-1s and the E-650 (and something else - haven't decided on a source(s) yet). The synergy between TAD and Accuphase is just too much to pass up.
The sickness continues. |

First round of pricing came back 30% over budget. If you figure at least 10% price overruns during the project (which may not be enough), then that’s way over budget. Gotta do some thinking.

The “Music Womb” (aka my room build thread)
Quote:
So this sounds like a completely normal construction project. I’ve never regretted going ‘too far’ with project scope, or stretching to do something on the edge of affordability at the time. I have regretted not going far enough and having to live with a limitation I could have avoided and then spending much more to re-do it later. It’s always hard to make the correct call - so good luck!

Hi Jim! You have great patience that I am sure will be rewarded with great sound and great satisfaction. I have found that the financial pain of, within reason of course, building what you want and buying what you want, quickly recedes when you get moved in and hear the sound. Good luck! You will reap the rewards of your efforts and labors for years to come.
