Spoke to another fella today who moved from a CJ preamp to the LP27a and he indicated it drove the Inspire amp and speakers much better. Def worth noting in consideration.
Look for a used Inspire preamp. Check out HifiShark.com

Circuit:

Buffered 6SN7 (6SL7) input direct coupled to grounded grid 15 dB gain stage direct coupled to 6SN7 low output impedance buffer stage. Vacuum tube rectification with pi-network filter choke DC regulated power supply
.

Makes my head hurt.

I know, to do it right, right? Considering it.

My other option is to just focus on my main system, forget a den room system, sell all current amps, keep my SLP-98 preamp, and go with some new mono block creation. That's what's in the back of my mind mostly. Wondering how close guys here are getting the next-gen Inspire mono blocks up and going with Dennis. Wishful thinking on my part I guess. Rib, rib, hint hint.

Hey Bombadil, after I found a date matched set of five NOS metal 6F6's for $40 I had to keep looking for metal tubes, and then I came across these NOS date matched 6L6's for $68 I couldn't stop myself! They are very nice sounding, as good or better than any tubes I own!
