It was 1991 and I had gone over to my buddy Jim's house to check out his new Pioneer CD player that he'd been telling me about. I was so fascinated with the technology and the convenience of loading a disk, hitting play and sitting down for a whole recording. I went out the next day and bought a Sony ES player and a pair of Sennheiser headphones. Don't remember the model numbers now, but this definitely got the ball rolling.

The tape deck was a hand me down - I think it was a Sony. |

Acoustic Research AR9 speakers from late 1970s bought new for <$1200 - terrific bass.
Loved those babies. |

Nakamichi zX-7 deck. (Only If that was considered top of the line in 1984). I still have it!

When I was in college (a long time ago), I had a Dual 1219 turntable with a Shure V15II cartridge, a Dynaco PAT-4 pre-amp, a McIntosh MC275 driving a pair of Large Advent speakers.
