MC462 will fit your needs just fine IMO.

Thank you for your comments.

I’ve been looking at the 601’s and the 611’s.

Is the MC611 a newer version of the MC601?

Also wouldn’t the MC1.25 kw be overboard if my speakers recommended amplifier power is 400 Watts?

I know I would like a killer amp, so far the 601 is very interesting.

I will look for Dan’s amps reviews.

The 611's are the newest version, yes.

Well if your speakers are rated just 400w, it's probably time to get a new pair that will fit a larger amp hunger for power.

Just kidding, sorry, but we love to spend other people's money in this forum.

Like I said before the 462 is a great amp.

@ Krustycat.
Thank you.
I’m going to research on other threads here at Audioaficionado.
Also, I will demo this Mc462 at my home soon from the stereo shop.

Talk to you on the other amp threads.

Masterlu you look like you have extensive experience with mac gear. Im new to mac and have xrt2k mc901 and 1,25kw tri amped. Was wondering if the xr2k would benefit more going to the 2kw monos? I like the valve sound on the tweeters but would like to up the dbs a little as the 600w on mids(mc901) and the 1,25s dominate the woofers. Also on another note , if i run the mc901 in composite setting trying to use the crossover on 901 something doesnt sound right. Im running left channel from Yamaha receiver xlr to the 1,25 input and then output on 1,25 splitting to mc901s two inputs.

The XRT2K’s are designed to be Tri-amped with a minimum of 1200 watts x 3 per side.

I have one pair of mine with MC2KW’s on the Bass, and MC1.2KW’s on Mids, and another MC1.2KW’s on the Highs.

The other pair employs (3) MC1.2KW’s per channel. To answer your question, yes; they will sound much better with MC2KW’s than your current configuration.

I agree with this 100%.

The only other thing I would consider to power my XRT2K's would be 2 pairs of 2KW amps used with the MEN 220 for a Bi-Amp party!

You don’t want an MEN220 w/ XRT2K’s. You want the now discontinued MQ109b Environmental Equalizer.

I use one with each pair of my XRT2K’s, it outperformed the MEN220 easily. My experience with the MEN220 was that functionality was decent, but it added noise; which was unacceptable.

The MQ109b has the basic low frequency compensation that was used in the original MQ101 design for the qverdamped woofer. In addition, there are five equalizer bands centered at 50Hz, 80Hz, 150Hz, 300Hz and 600Hz. The variable “Q” control for each frequency can be varied from narrow (Q = 4) to wide Q = 0.6). Both balanced and unbalanced input and output connectors are provided. The equalizer must be connected between the preamplifier and power amplifier. The power switch and power receptacle are located on the right side.

The B version is Balanced. Occasionally they show up used; in good condition they run about $1500.

I read about those but was not sure how many people have used them. Thanks for the information.
