Cables can make a big difference. The right ones are worth the wait.

Congrats Jack. The C2600/2700 can be a bit tough to find on the used market. With my MC1502 due to arrive any day now I'm in a bit of a quandry on the preamp side of things.

McIntosh tells me that the preamp in my MA8000 is the C50. I'm going to try it out first, but I really had my heart set on a tube preamp.

A friend from my audio club has an AR LS27 for sale, but I'm not sure it's what fits my needs being a pure line stage.

Please let us know your thoughts on the C2600 once you've had some time with it.

Well, I'm a week into the C2600 and it's amazing how good everything sounds. I was starting to think my speakers were maybe showing their age. I hooked up my laptop to the C2600 via USB and the HiRez using Qobuz is great.

One of our posters here has the LS27 and he talked me out of it because it might not be what I was looking for being more neutral than warm.

Thanks for the report Jack. I too have heard a few people report their experience with the LS27 as being a bit cool sounding. That is not my taste either. Glad the 2600 has you smiling.

Jack. Follow this link: http://www.nucow.com/Free%20Tube%20S...a%20Sheets.htm

These are tube guides from decades ago, but is chock full of very useful info.

I've saved all of these pdf's to my hard drive for future reference.

The RCA manual from 1975 is a virtual dissection of vacuum tube technology.

Good luck and enjoy your tour through the world of tubes.
