Ah, if I understand correctly you'd like to use the E600 as a preamplifier and use the A36 for the amplifier section.

I would not recommend this. The amplifier in the E600 is probably almost identical to the A35/36.

If anything, I would go with the a46/a70. But really why do that. The E600 will not have an issue with the speaker loading (current). I guess it depends on how loud you need it to go.

I ran the Sasha 1s with an A-20v (20w per channel) and it was very good.

Best

Why yes they most certainly are. See the link I provided.

I forgot to look at that link!

Damping factor increased to 400 over the A35.

Actually, the E600 seems to have a higher damping factor and peak power.

I'd still just go with the E600. Maybe the A36 with C-2120 as separates but not the E600 as a preamplifier with the A36.

No problem! Yeah, the new Accuphase amps feature higher damping factors and peak power.

thank you.

The E-600 will surely play nice music when driving the Sasha, however, it will not be able to play properly any type of music. That is, it will do well with any type of music that does not exhibit large dynamic variations, but it will not be able to play realistically the rest of the music.

A very good example in this regard is the video recently added in the "Accuphase E-600" thread by imprezap2. The music in that video sounds very nice, and given the fact that we talk about a youtube video made by a hobbyist with his camera, it is easy to imagine that imprezap2’s system sounds very very good. However, it is also important to note that later in that thread imprezap2 acknowledges that his E-600 was clipping at times during that recording. Since the song played in the respective video has very little dynamic variation, it should be clear to anybody that while the E-600 will play very nice music, it will not be able to go very loud. Consequently, it will not be able to reproduce properly large orchestras or other types of music with large dynamic variations.

I hope imprezap2 will not mind what I wrote above, it is certainly not meant as a criticism. I also hope he will join this discussion and provide some more informations about this. I suspect that his E-600 was clipping because he has played the music quite loud, e.g. at least 85 dBs, which was necessary in order to achieve the good sound in his video.

nvp, knowing the V3s Olaf is currently using, it is indeed praise that the E600 with only 30watts manages to drive them to his satisfaction. When I had them for 2yrs, V3s clipped (when pushed) my ARC Ref150 - 150w, Soulution 710 -110w, and FMA 611 - 250w in room approx. 5m x 12m x 3m. There must be some tremendous current on tap (E600) belying its spec. With higher sensitivity speakers such as yours, or in a more moderately sized rooms, I'm under the impression that that quality thirty watters may be all one needs ~ for most music. *Sasha is a much easier load compared to V3 (we A-B'd them in same system using ARC Ref150), not sure of the Sasha2.

Hi Paul/Bvdiman,

No problem, but it's not the speakers distorting, it's the microphone, when I look back at the recording on the camera at certain places the VU meters go far in the red (this is on the camera, not amplifier!), hence the distortion you here in the video
Only one to blame there is me for not checking this before putting it online.

Dynamics with E-600 and V3's are good, off course if you want full blown classical music to sound realistic you will need other amps/speakers, but even then you will not get close to the real event.

The V3's are 4 ohm nominal impedance and dipping to 2,5 ohm at some frequencies, E-600 has no problem with that. (also the Accuphase power claims are a bit on the conservative side)

I have not yet heard the V3's clipping at all, even with some " foolish " bass CD's a friend wanted to hear on my system.
There will be systems that go much louder and with more pressure, but for my room this will be overkill. (~6x4 mtrs 2,6mtr ceiling height)

Wilson's are not an easy load, saw that the Alexia/Sasha 2 was even dipping between 1-2 Ohm !!! at certain frequencies.

But in the end these are only figures, for me the combination Magico/Accuphase is an excellent one, very musical and fast.

Olaf
