Hi Ray,

I'd be interested in your opinion/conclusions before I get too deep into ripping ....

Thanks!

I found many operational glitches. here are some questions to 111 user.
1. do you have surprise loud "pop" noise just before the CD start first track, after buffering finished ?
2. can you use direct access buttons on metal remote controller to change track of CD ?
3. there are so many CD discs that 111 struggle to read, to play as a CD player, many times the music stopped mid song, time counter stopped. it's similar to Windows's " not responding ",and also skipping like first gen car CD Changer on many discs. What kind of drive Burmester use..I think it has poor reading capability.
4. Ok so can it connect to home wifi network, or it has to be via CAT5 cable only ?
5. I set it as " to connect to preamplifier ", but the volume control on 111 can still operate from both ipad and knob at 111. how come ?
Now the only thing that I happy about it is its sound when play CD that it can play.
It's not analog, but it is very very beautiful digital sound. Sound better than Soulution 540 and 3-pieces Metronome and my Esoteric P03/D03. Only CD/SACD that I feel ahead
of 111 sonically is Accuphase DP900/DC901, but not far ahead.
If operational glitch cannot be solved, I will not keep it. I want something more plug and play. May be I will switch to 089 instead, hoping sound quality will be similar.
Toga
Toga,
You have the same problem with sticking CDs that I had on my first day with my 111, the next day the same CDs played without a problem. Since then I've ripped CDs, and have felt no need to go back to playing the actual discs. I’ve had no problems with the CD drive when ripping CDs.
The 111 connects to the router with a LAN cable, and to the iPad via Wi-Fi, I don't think that it can connect to the internet via Wi-Fi. As well as accessing the internet to download information when ripping, you also need this set-up to connect to a computer in order to edit your ripped CDs.
My system is not connected up at the moment, and is likely to remain like that for at least another week, and so I’m unable to answer your other questions, but I do wish you luck with your 111, and hope that your problems get resolved soon.

I believe the metal remote control is of limited use, many buttons will not control 111.
Also the built in preamp seems to design to work with very high gain power amp like Burmester's, when use with amp that has normal gain of around 26dB, pre amp gain is too low. hmmI think the supplied AC Cord looks high quality, haven't tried it yet. Now use Audio Quest WEL. and the LED backlite never look as bright as in the picture, in normal ambient light, almost not see it.
But again, it sound wonderful, but I don't thing I can find 069+PSU to try.
Toga
TOGA,

I don't know but I think the battery comes disconnected for shipping purposes. Did you physically connect the battery before you put it on your rack. I recall reading in the owners manual that you have to unscrew the plate on the back and hook up the battery.

Rightnow I am playing it, and music skipped once in a while, many times. in the first song only. I think 111 send data from disc to some kind of memory buffer, and the flow of data
is corrupted due to poor firmware. I don't believe this skip was cause by poor optical drive.
Because I've never see any optical drive skip this badly before , let alone in $$$$$$ machine.
Is the 069 much more expensive ?
Toga
In the USA yes, maybe not for our overseas friends. The retail prices are below.

069 Belt Drive CD Player w/ Reference Line power supply $64,995
069 Belt Drive CD Player w/ Internal power supply $49,995

I have to say that just based on my reading, the 069 with external PS is at such a high level you may not want anything else.

Hi TOGA,

I think the cd player needs to back to the factory to upgrade it to use the external power supply. They have to remove the internal ps and replace the connector with an umbilical input. I personally would not do that but order it with the ext. Ps in the first place.

Toga,
The backlight brightness is adjustable, I think that you will find it, using the iPad, under settings.
