BP17 Cubed phono + TF2 step-up
Hi folks,
My new TF2-20 arrived home last night. When connected to my preamp's phono input with both RCA cables there is a nasty hum. When one or both of the cables is removed the hum goes away but there is still a bit of noise. The ground terminal on the TF2 has no effect. When the turntable is connected directly to the preamp it is dead silent. Any ideas? |

Try running a ground cable from TT to SUT and from SUT to Preamp.

I did that and the noise got worse!

Try moving the SUT around the rack and away from other wires and components

There is no difference in noise if I put the SUT directly on top of my 7B or four feet away.
Thank you for the suggestions though. Last edited by Stefan_DR3; 11-06-2017 at 12:58 AM. |

If you have exhausted all the possible grounding schemes to no avail, I'm sure if you reach out to Bryston they will be able to help.

Remove any LED lights in that room connected in to your AC outlets!

Removed all lights and other stereo components, no change.
It's very odd. The hum is always there but only when the TF2 is connected to the preamp. Grounding them together makes the noise 3 times louder. Bryston tech support is looking into it. Last edited by Stefan_DR3; 11-09-2017 at 01:13 PM. |

TF2 works fine on my Yamaha receiver phono input. So the BP17 phono stage is now the prime suspect.

Update: Bryston is looking at a grounding fix within the TF-2
I still think I have a bad phono board but willing to ship either or both units back. Just waiting for confirmation and RMA... Anyone else have this setup? |
