Hi dan,

Well, I AM ALREADY like this .....

Every meal and purchases I have to stretch my hands out .... ask Howie, he knows!

As for 3 - way swap! Lets put it this way, I can keep on listening, audition and dream ... but surely, I never have the GUTS to ask ..... Just tried talking and I was told to "shut your trap, ... cause you told me this was you .... blah, blah, blah ....". Its easier to buy the Accuphase T1000!

So, for me, just pay $5 parking charges at the Adelphi and have a good 3 hour listening session and pretend that what I am listening to is "MY room"!

Cheers!

Cheers!

I confirm the 808 MK5 is still the flagship preamp in Burmester. In my Burmester Reference System I compare both pre-amps and I consider them as reference, but personally I prefer the magic and musical sound of the 808 MK5.

Best regards,
Rocco

I owned also the Classic Line and the Top Line...With Top Line you are already in the music-paradise...The Burmester Reference Line well settled is truly the reference audio system, at least to my ears.

Best regards,
Rocco

WOW! Your the man!!!

Now I got 3 Reference Systems (one brand) to consider:

1. McIntosh Reference "K" (space would be a BIG concern here - so more likely NOT happening)

2. MBL Reference (with 101e MK II) - This is nice. Just need to be sure.

3. Burmester Reference - This is nice TOO! Just need to audition a few more times and then decide between "2" & "3". Just for asking sakes, between the 077 30th Anniversary Pre and the 808 Mk5 Pre, which would be the better one? I DO INTEND to add on a TT, and so ..... Your advise would be part of the consideration, if I go the Burmester way.

Meanwhile, the Meridian Reference may be getting me deep diving into it ... as I am like "lost in hifi" .... for now. The only thing that kept me sane and stop me wondering and dreaming is I have no access to extra cash! If not, I would have been back to my ole ways ....

But so far, Meridian seems good (and sound good too).

Maybe 2 years down the road (if I can stay that long with Meridian and not wonder off), Howie's current setup may appear in my home.

My bro Howie always into newer, better and higher category of enjoyment! I just need to simply follow behind! And when he changes/upgrade, I collect the "hand me down"

Cheers!

Pssst: Howie, Burmester Reference - Really Good .... go listen AFTER you are done playing with this new setup!

Jerry I am learning from you old Kung Fu Panda Master

Make sure you don't restrict yourself to manufacturers who make all the different types of components. I actually quite like the idea of mixing and matching

Bro,

On the contrary, I learn from you one thing (Meridian - plus no more dabbling with the thing called cables) ... one branding isnt that bad after all. Moreover, mixing allows controversy, which eventually mean buying newer (and not necessarily mean better stuff, like cables ... so many brands ..).

To recall, just that one type of change caused me a bomb - from Cardas Golden Reference to Argento Serenity Master Reference (now replaced with Flow or whatever). How to play catch up?

Playing with Meridian kinda "slowed" me down on the change process. It is good for me (definitely when I start counting the beans, I mean the $$$ lost/dropped along the way all these years).

I was just joking about you changing. I really wish you have a long, long relationship with your new found combo! After all, you DO have a FANTASTIC combo .... one of the best there is ever!

IF and when that happen, I would surely like to make it a SLOW process to ensure that would be the LAST ever upgrade/buy! After all, age is catching up and its time I safe some for the years on ... so that I can still upgrade A gear or 2 when time comes (not an entire system).

Cheers!

I agree 100%. But every once in a while I crave another 911MK3
