Ok. How does it sound. Comparing the sound to my BAT VK-500 amp, Bryston 7B is neutral sounding. Don't get me wrong the VK-500 is no slouch. However, I like the Bryston/PMC synergy better.

If there is bass in the recording, it will dish out bass. Bass is immediate, precise with excellent pitch and definition. It has pinpoint imaging and good feeling of depth and space. Highs are sweet and transparent. The Bryston just get out of the way of the music. It is actually fun listening to Rock, Jazz, Reggae, Classical, Metal etc.

Overall sound is natural with so much reserves that it sounds full-range in low to mid-volume. It is like a V8 with excellent low RPM torque in any gear. When you stump the pedal, it is ready to rumble.

Definitely Rocks!

Movie watching is likewise all about nuance. Using a Bryston preamp processor SP1.7, watching movies with DD or DTS encoding again extremely fast and vocals are easy to hear. Best of both worlds.

BAT amp is like a SET amp but with brute force.

Guys,

I have a CB6 and am considering upgrade to the i series. Can you justify the upgrade. Is it that substantial? I'm replacing some IB1's with the new PB1i's in the next month or so. Matching at the front soundstage is crucial in movies and HD, but is the upgrade worth it from the CB6 to the CB6i? how about my TB2+ to the TB2i?

Hi Dave,

I cannot answer you directly if going from CB6 to i-series is worth it. I never had the CB6. I was using a Sonus Faber center channel for awhile.

If money is not an issue, I would go ahead and match your center channel with your main speakers. You can then sell the old center to someone who is looking to complete a 5.1 setup. The new Solonex tweeter has superior top-end resolution and consistency. The high luster cabinet matches your PB1i and looks really nice.

Moving from OB1 to OB1i surely is substantial upgrade.

Cheers,
--Levi

Levi.......Nothing like going from 60 watts a side to 600+ watts a side. The Bryston 7B SST2 looks beautiful. How about a picture of the system with the Bryston's in place.

Levi.......Thank you. That looks great. The Bryston 7B SST2 amps in black look very nice sitting next to the PMC center channel speaker. The entire system is taking on a brand new life.

Levi,

What are you using to power your center channel?

Thanks guys.

I should put my system in my profile.

Center channel is powered by 9Bsst. Processor is Bryston 1.7. I use the BAT VK-51se for stereo listening. I have them all hooked up for the best of both worlds.
