Turbo-4s. Yuck........... that's why we have the C350 and 128i. Normally aspirated 6 or 8 until we are forced to go electric. Guessing we have 6-10yr before that happens.

Launches from traffic light to traffic light are juvenile and get old real quick. The access to the nice twisty back roads on the other hand opens up the realm of where a vehicle such as a Porsche or BMW really shines but even then the handling is much more important that the amount of ponies. I can explore the limits of my 150hp 2200lb Miata RF with ease on the back roads and still be on the “I may get a ticket but not go to jail” side of the equation... show me where or how one can explore the limits of a 500hp car but I’ll watch from the side not from inside that car. This is coming from a guy who used to be in into all kinds of fast cars with way more hp than would be sane or logical. |

Granted, I do not keep them for a long time as I typically lease my daily drivers so can't comment as to long term reliability but have not had any issues or problems whatsoever with my few years old GC Overland edition so far. The GC fills all my needs in terms of cargo for my hobbies, comfort on short/long trips, fantastic all weather traction (have been caught in two serious blizzards so far with zero issues of getting home in abysmal highway snow conditions with many cars and some other SUVs stranded on the side of the highway... It checks all the boxes on my list of expectations and for the money offers quite a bit of value overall. |

I have a 2016 X3 that I bought new and have been very happy with. No problems and a great car for a long drive. Lots of power for me with the turbo 4. I hated the run flats and replaced them with normal tires and put an inflation kit in the trunk. The run flat snow tires we had at first were horrible but the Michelin X-ice tires transformed winter driving. Best of luck with your search!

Still searching and have decided to look at some new vehicles being released in the fall.
2020 Ford Explorer 2020 Lincoln Corsair I stopped in to the local Ford dealer a few few weeks ago just for the halibut. Drove a new (outgoing) MKC and Nautilus and was very impressed with build quality.) Also will look the new Volvo V60 Cross Country and 2020 Subaru Outback. |
