Right now at my new place I have mine directly on the floor without anything until the 604 are ready in a month or two. This room is bigger but other than the image being low the sound and bass are actually quite good.

I am considering 2 changes to my Valencia 846A's. Removing the grills and also removing the bottom wood skirts, that are like a 2" X 1" strip of wood on all 4 sides, which elevate the speakers approx 2". Of those 2 changes, I think the wood skirts is the one I am leaning toward doing. Removing the Grills is something I'm less confident about. What's does everyone think? It would only stand to reason, that having the bottom flat/flush with my stands would be a sonic WIN. Right? (-: On a lighter note, I do plan to try the Duehlend wire in place of the Belden 9497 for the XO. At $10/ft, I just have to give that a shot.
Cheers -Don

Well i think both make sense. I like my Flamencos better with grills on but they add a bit of rattle. What sort of stands do you have?

Poplar legs 2.5" square. Kind of like the DeVore Orangutan legs, but they were 1.5" square.
Those 4 Poplar wood legs are secured to Baltic Birch Ply top. I have photos of them in the Altec thread under General speaker discussion. I actually had BB Ply left over from my speaker back project. The new backs allowed me to bypass the stock XO, and run the wires to the Jagusch XO through small holes I drilled in the backs.

I finally have gotten my Valencia's on temporary stands and appreciate the improvements. I am looking at options for stands. It seems the trend is baltic birch plywood tables.
Has anyone has tried different designs or materials?
Why is plywood preferred over solid wood-or is it?
I am considering solid walnut in an inverted 'U' shape with the sides closed off and the front and back open. Am I headed down the wrong path?

Thanks!

Is there a way to keep the Werner Jagusch XO inside the cabs?

you can unscrew the connector plate, or replace it with a new wood plate, or drill a hole in the back.

You can't see the table top very much so use whatever you want as long as it's big enough and can support ~100lbs. I'd spend more effort on the legs and any bracing, if visible.

Thanks guys. I am also thinking re[lacing the bottoms of the cabs with Baltic Birch ply - does anyone know the dimensions? Sorry to be lazy but trying to minimize the lifting/ moving I need to do by myself...

I think replacing main box panels would be next to impossible with the existing glue, nails, veneer covered nails etc.
