no issues as we've discussed. I think it may be your unit needing to be looked at and fixed or replaced. Hate to say it. I know so many who have one and haven't had the problem. Maybe others on here will come up with the same things. My software revisions have worked flawlessly

My guess it's an user error.

I just wanted to follow up on my post regarding Firmware D. I am getting beyond excellent support from Ayre on this issue and spoke to both Alex Brinkman and Brendan who works on their software. Very impressive response. They are definitely on top of things over there. In fact I never really gave them a chance to respond before posting which in retrospect did them a great disservice. They clearly care about each and every customer's experience and I have never received better customer service from a manufacturer of any consumer product. First rate!

I reflashed firmware D which resolved a lot of my issues, and the remaining bugs, if any, are very minor and I am confident they are being worked on with the utmost diligence over there. Overall I give Ayre an A+ with respect to their handling of my issue, which really turned out to be not that big of an issue after all and may even be isolated to my unit, which was one of the first shipped.

I also got great response from my dealer, Audio Consultants, as always!

Great to hear. It's funny as some poster who used to post on here and switched to Pass just hammered Ayre in every post he ever makes it seems. I just sent my AX5 back to Ayre to have a crossover installed for my new to be Vandersteen Quatro's and they have been nothing short of outstanding and even excited over my upgrades. As I've said, they have the same passion we all do for audio and helping us all go forward. They have a great dealer network. I have liked nearly every shop owner I've met who sells Ayre. That's the reason I LOVE Vandersteen's speakers too. It's the exact same 'customer first' mentality. Just love that.

CT what does the crossover do and why do you need it? Don't the Vandy's have a crossover built in?

The Quatro on up all have powered subs. It's part of what makes them so special. you can place them wherever you get the best sound and then you use the 11 stage EQ to dial the bass in. Really helps in any room to get the right bass for the room. The cross around 100hz I think it is. Most use the external crossover that Richard makes. It's a great and simple design. You can't even hear it. It's put between the pre and the amp, but my integrated doesn't have a pre out, so I decided to have it installed by Ayre. They spoke with Richard directly and are using the Wima caps I believe in order to have it be seamless. I can uninstall it if and when I decide to sell the integrated. No biggie to me and one less cord/cable to have in the system. I could have used the external one from the QX5 directly into the pre input, but the sound could have suffered a spec and that's the only input I'd be able to use. Right now, I am not doing analog, so the QX5 IS the only input I'm using, but sQ is the most important thing.

In a perfect world, I'd have a pre out on my amp as the external crossover with the battery bias will sound the best. The nice thing is that mine will also sound great and it's the only way to really do it right in my situation. Hope that came across properly, lol.

Im curios if anyone here has their QX 5 on any type of conditioner or straight into the wall" yes we all know that Ayre has the Conditioner power line RFI filter built in but has anyone tried conditioners and if so which ones and what were the benefits.
