Kevin.......The MCD500 began production in 2008. In the past nine years there has been a steady improvement in DAC technology and feature sets. You have every reason to believe your MCT450 and D150 combination outperforms the MCD500. This not a slam on the MCD500 because it is a fine SACD/CD/DAC but technology has raised the bar on current offerings.

It's not going to get better than a MCT450 for a transport. You can also directly connect to the C52. The only reason for getting rid of the MCT450 would be for convenience (no more spinning discs - but a lot of people still like physical media). You'll notice more of an improvement if you get an external DAC - but to beat the one in the C52 you'll need to spend a few $'s.

Thanx leftside for sharing your opinion. Suppose I'll just stick with it and live happily with the CDs that I've collected for the past two decades - sure better than ridding them for a few cents for the sakes of space and streaming - after all, it's about the love for music and collecting is an essential part of it (for me at least). Sure CDs will never have the emotional value vinyl has for me - but still unmeasurable lots more than streaming.

To me the MCD500 sounds superb. Since I upgraded my turntable 6 years ago vinyl has taken over most of serious listening. I mostly stream digital using Roon using the DAC in the MCD500. While new DAC's keep coming out, some of which is planned to be able to continue to entice audiophiles to keep upgrading. I'm just saying the differences are not night and day.
