You will go with a Pass preampli? if yes go with the xp20. is more expesensive vs the xp10 but the sound is a lot better!

listen the x250.5 with a A.Research ref.3, Spectral d30? (the top of Spectral) and the Xp20: the Xp20 is the perfect match. more soudstage in LF and HF, fully sinergy.

let me know, Kr

No, I didn't have a Bryston amplifier before, and no, I'm not looking to get a new preamp.

ok, what for speaker do you use?

turntable or cd player?

The X250.5 is a very great ampli. I had ClasseAudio, Mcintosh, Bryston,....
Passlab is a very killer "machine": with this ampli yu can frive fast almost speakers.
The Xa serie is different, expecially with the woman voices, more "hot sound", but the X250.5 is sure better at the 350.5. good choice.

I have not noticed a decrease in sound quality when the amp goes out of class A operation, but I have only been able to get the needle on the meter to move significantly at very, very high volumes. If your speakers are relatively efficient, you will remain in class A almost exclusively.

If I may ask, how and when do you know tht the amp goes out of Class A operation? How do you read the Blue Meter?
Thanks.
