Brad.......Thanks for the photos of your MD108 in black. The face plate looks to be the 17-5/8" rather than the 19". Is that right?

Hi Dan, yes MD machined a new smaller face plate for a $200 up charge at the time of purchase. They did everything including the silk screening. Also AA member Prepress just had a smaller face plate made for his MD-102 order a few months ago...

I wonder what Magnum Dynalab is doing with the old circuit boards they are removing from MD108t tuners when customers upgrade to the Signature Edition. I want to believe they are not being refurbished and installed in new MD108t tuners. My guess is no, but the thought crossed my mind.

They will tell you if they do so and give you a measurable discount (at least that's my understanding). I've found them to be nothing except top rate.

Jim.......Thank you for that response. Since I am still procrastinating over the purchase of a new MD108t, I would certainly want everything about it to be brand new.

Other variables are size of faceplate, color of meters and lights and color of faceplate (plus the SE upgrade). I'm going to change all of those this year.

Jim.......What size face plate are you going with? What color meter lights and indicator lights are you selecting? I wonder how long it will take Magnum Dynalab to perform those changes and return the MD108t back to you.

Bye, bye. The Magnum Dynalab MD108t is packed in its air-freight case and ready to be returned to its owner. I am grateful to have had to opportunity to put it through its paces and make the comparison to my McIntosh MR88, which by the way is now back in the studio rack looking and sounding good.

I have decided to cool my heels and keep my MR88 tuner in the studio system. I will continue to enjoy it's digital AM/FM/HD output through the Esoteric K-03's DAC. It is a fine sounding tuner in its own right. Although I enjoyed the MD108t experience, I will be equally happy enjoying my MR88 tuner. I believe that is the best decision at this time.

Many thanks to David, member doguniverse, for providing his Magnum Dynalab MD108t to me for review.

Dan, the pleasure is all mine. The tuner will be going back MD for an upgrade. I am glad you enjoyed the tuner, and hope that someday you will have the MD 108t SE.

Sorry Dan - we're skiing in Utah and I just saw this (supposed to get about 2 feet of snow this week!).

I'm going to go with a smaller face plate, in gold (like the one that you had) to fit better with my accuphase components, amber lights (not as bright), and then the SE upgrade. Not sure how long it will take them to do it - was thinking about delaying it until after winter (since they're in Canada somewhere).

Now, back to about 10" of new snow tomorrow!
