Used Oppo BDP 83se ... Mod by NuForce. Great player. I owned it and never think of upgrading to the newer 95 Model.

Think you can get one for under $1k on this model if you dont mind an used gear. Happy hunting.

Cheers!

Oppo is better than Pioneer (I own both) and it plays SACD and DVD-A which Pioneer won't.

Owned a BDP83SE----sold it off for $650 recently to purchase the 95 with XLR outputs and that it also correctly the one minor glitch the 83SE had that was never corrected by firmware. On certain DVD-As it would clip the opening note which is corrected on the 95.

Mike
Since the DAC technology for decoding SACD and DVD-Audio has has not changed much over the last several years, I would pick up one of the older Pioneer Elite or Denon players. The prices on these units are very reasonable on A-gon.

For less than a thousand dollars on A'gon, you can buy either a new, or almost new, Lexicon RT-20, which was offered, as Lexicon's top of the line player, for about $5500 a couple of years ago. I bought one a year of so ago, new in box, for $995 and they are less now.

This is an exceptional machine for DVD, DVDa, SACD, etc. Many reviews on the web. Picture quality on DVD is every bit as good as my OPPO BDP-95, and sound quality is excellent on all formats.

A bargain and built like a tank.

FYI, that's an Marantz DV9500 in a different case. Their BD-30 is a Oppo BDP-83 in a different case.

I know both of those truisms - but the RT-20 is still a bargain! Lexicon did a little more than just stick the Marantz into a case.

Their BD-30, on the other hand, seems like a rip-off.
