Default Have a Look

Salad with lettuce and tomatoes from the C's garden; avocado and red onion from the local supermarket. Local corn grilled. Pork loin locally raised and butchered marinated in olive oil, salt, pepper and C's garden garlic. The wine is an '09 Bordeaux, left bank Chat. Haut Surget- Pomerol. It's been in the basement since purchasing on the futures a few or so year ago. Oh, most importantly, zucchini cake baked this afternoon by Cassie with her garden's zucchini.

All right. That looks great. Pork loin is one of my favs.

Nice to see someone else who likes to bake. Still too hot to go to the beach (hopefully, the temp will break tomorrow). Blueberry scones this morning. Started with blueberry muffins a couple of days ago and went with the scones today for a change of pace. Joy of Cooking recipes. Muffins were great, but needed to "doctor" the scones to get them where I wanted (additional sugar & added lemon juice). Living a couple of hundred yards from one of the largest blueberry fields in NJ has its benefits.

Thanks, John. We took couple of them and our coffee and walked 3.68mi on the beach (58th St, Ocean City) this morning (FitBit tells all).

Lamb chops for dinner. We're going to be bad and will mash some local golden potatoes and steam local asparagus (second cutting seems to be coming in around here).

Lamb chop with rosemary, favorite of mine too. Nice local golden and asparagus too!

BTW, I grew up in Essex County, NJ. I remember those summer days down the shore, coming home in the wee hours of the morning and then sitting under an ice cold shower to ease the sun burn.

We use quite a bit of rosemary these days after reading a study on the "oldest community in Europe", about a small town in Italy where most everyone seems to live to 100+ and is generally in good health until the day they kick over. Other than a daily dose of red wine (gotta go open a new bottle), use of olive oil and eating of olives, the use of rosemary on most everything they eat was a common denominator. The real bonus is the added flavor it gives to most dishes.

The shore was beautiful today. Water temp is ideal in mid-to-upper 70s. Set a record early last week with a temp of 84F.

Indeed. Not enough lamb dishes served in the good ole USofA.
