Default Authentication service?

Anyone have an art authentication service they can recommend? I’ve got a Dali lithograph and was considering using www.dali.com as he seems to be the leading expert but Dali’s are rumored to be the most faked artist out there and don’t want a service that is just mass processing inspections.

One of the reasons he’s my favorite artist, basically gave the middle finger to the art world, and did what he wanted.

I know the actual history behind my lithograph (printed, then water color added by Dali along with his signature), but new insurance policy needs a formal appraisal. The “expert” at dali.com seems to have embraced Dali’s work ethic and churns out appraisals and COA’s for $395/pop...and also just happens to sell appraised/authentic prints on the site, so I think it’s pretty much a joke. Was hoping for a NE art nerd who can write an appraisal for insurance purposes only. Too much sentimental value to ever sell...

Any of the auction houses can point you in the right direction for an appraiser. Your biggest problem will likely be getting past the person who answers the phone to someone who can actually give you the info. You might start by telling the phone-answerer that you have a print to sell so they will forward you to someone in the business. You might also as Rago in Lambertville. We've always found them good to deal with, though its been a few years and they've expanded considerably since our last interaction.
