OK, I've read through this thread..........trying to put myself in Tom's shoes here, look, this really shouldn't be this difficult, ask your dealer to loan you another McIntosh power amplifier for an evening, plug it in. Does it hum or not? If so, then it's 99.9% something going on with your power line that isn't playing well with McIntosh equipment and you know that unfortunately you'll have to deal with the power company. If the borrowed amplifier is silent, then let your dealer know to order you a new one and drop the old one off when the new one comes in, take the new one home and enjoy. I can't imagine a McIntosh dealer having a problem with this. That's the road I would've taken on the second day of owning the buzzing amplifier. This should take care of said problem.
