Default My Humble System

After 30 years of purchasing, trading, upgrading (and downgrading) stereo equipment, recently I've decided to downsize and simplify. We did this with home (kids are mostly grown) and other purchases. The dedicated music room is gone; I'm sharing the living room with my wife. Dedicated speaker stands are gone (with the ideal placement off back and side walls). Speakers are actually on a bookshelf and equipment is needed to be integrated into the living space without overtaking same. I've owned other McIntosh product in past; MA-6500, MR-85, MC-122. I sold it all over time to try various tube preamps and amps.
So I got back in the McIntosh game looking for some vintage pieces. I like the look, but there also is a practical aspect that the older components (with 13 1/2" depth) fit better on a typical shelf. I was able to source a rebuilt c-26 from a great dealer. A MC-2505 was sourced from an individual via auction. I am more than satisfied with the quality and sound from these components. The 2505 has a wonderful tone that currently does not make me miss the tubes. I am enjoying the functionality of the 26; actually finding benefit of bass tone controls to warm up sound at low volumes my wife prefers. The phono preamp is doing great with my turntable and allowing me to supplant one more component and set of interconnect.
Anyway, I'm happy with the look, the sound, and the value of the vintage components. I appreciate the AA forum for giving me a resource for research. Here are a couple of pictures to say, "Thanks".

fineo1; A beautiful vintage pair you have. I've always had a soft spot for those particular 2 pieces. A restored pair must be a delight.

Oh and very nicely photographed as well

Default Thanks for embedding the pictures

I am finding the vintage components a delight. Thank you for allowing the pictures to display within the thread. I'm a new user and after reviewing the FAQ and attempting to embed the photos, I was only able to give links. I'm not certain if I have posting privileges yet.

fineo1,

Thank you for posting pictures of your beautiful vintage gear. It certainly takes me back to older McIntosh gear I had.

The MC2505 and MC2105 are simply timeless designs. An MC2505 appeared in last night's episode of Vinyl for those that watch.

New MC452 anchoring my latest Main set up. Thanks to Dan for the review that made me a believer in this amazing McIntosh Amp. (I also just added a pair of almost NIB Cherry B&W 802 D2)[IMG]
