FWIW, I simply can't keep a single Sony HAP-Z1ES in stock. Demand far outpaces supply.

It would be nice if one of these mods offered digital out. In my mind, lacking a digital output is the biggest weakness of this product. Being stuck with the internal DAC for eternity, or until I die, is a deal breaker.

I picked up one a few months ago and love it.

One problem, though -- I couldn't get the system software to "find" the unit on my network, so the automatic transfer function is, for me, essentially useless. I can manually drag and drop files to the Sony hard drive, and it formats them properly to play, but it's a hassle to do it manually. It took me two weeks to transfer the files I wanted access to on the player.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I changed my mind. Cancelled my sony order and will get the ps audio unit instead.

I already have a mac mini and Nas fillrd with music with a great modded sonos unit as well. I like the fact that the ps audio is essentially a digital hub for my other sources.

... sorry for the late reply, but I just returned to the thread. I do like the Sony when all is working well, but that isn't a sure bet. The Android devices that control it can get out of sync with the HAP. The computer software can get out of sync with the HAP (that's what you are describing).

I have found that I have to make sure everything is on on the same network. Even when the devices show they are on the same network, sometimes the syncing doesn't occur. In desperate times, that means rebooting the router.

Sony just updated the firmware, the computer software, and the Android ap. They worked fine for a few days, and now the Android ap can find the HAP and turn it on, but none of the albums or artists show on the ap.

Many times with the HAP, I have had to control by using the actual buttons on the machine itself. The remote that comes with the HAP is essentially worthless.

I have to say that at this time I couldn't recommend to anyone to buy the HAP. There's a lot of grief working with this thing on a network.
