I think of those sounds as perhaps someone way off mic snapping their fingers.

Dan, with the hypersensitivity Melody has to sounds, I'm amazed that she can stand those clicks.

BTW Melody, if you read us ( who knows ??? ) I have a better sound system than the one you could get at the Crillon. You can come to my place when you come to Paris

The U.K. magazine Hi-Fi News has been testing Hi-Res downloads over the past few months.
This month, The Absence by Melody Gardot from highresaudio.com was found to be a 44.1kHz-to-96kHz upsample.
This seems to be common, with many of the hi-res downloads not being recorded in hi-res, but they do light up the higher res LEDs on DACs.
The magazine described it as like having an A4 sheet of paper inside an A3 envelope; it’s still an A4 sheet, i.e. half the size of the envelope.

I've been doing spot-checks these days on high rez downloads, which I assume other users are also doing using Audacity or equivalent. This can provide a pretty good indicator of the initial sample rate. Hopefully this helps keep the download stores honest.
