I just listened to Dave Grusin - Homage To Duke again this evening. Track 2, "Things Ain't What They Used To Be", gave me goosebumps again. This is a super recording.

Dan...My CD arrived today, a month after I ordered it. I Just finished listening to it, fantastic stuff. I agree track 2 is a storming track. This is the kind of album that will grow on me. It needs a lot of play time. Thank you for the recommendation, going to become one of my favourites. wicked bass line.

Douglas.......It sure took a long time to get your copy. Happy that you are pleased. I think I'll play my Homage To Duke tonight.

Dan is there a particular version of the Cd I need to look for when ordering?

Dan...There is something seriously wrong with our postal service.

I was a bit tired last night as I suffered from sleep deprivation. I listened again this morning after a solid 8-hour sleep. I cannot believe how amazing the recording quality is. It has such a natural warmth and tonal balance. Every track is great, but East ST. Louis Toodle-oo, 6-Jam Blues, and Take the "A" Train is fast becoming my favorites.

One thing is for sure; There is something very wrong with your system if your head does not bob and your feet don't tap

Dave.......You want to make sure you order the GRP version. You will see the Grusin Rosen Productions (GRP) logo on the cover. Be sure to check out the cover because there is another release of this recording on Heritage Jazz label. I have not heard that version. The original release on the GRP label is the one I recommend.

Douglas.......You are so right about the natural warmth and tonal balance. In addition, the dynamics are captured perfectly. I had not played this CD for years when I pulled it from the rack last month for a spin. I was blown away by this recording. That's why I had to let everyone here know about it. This is a recording that should be in everyone's library in my opinion. And you are right again about how all the tracks grow on you with repeated listening.
