Some non-legal advice from someone who gives legal advice for a living:


I have frequently surprised by people and companies who will not live up to what they promise in writing (one reason you don't want to kill "all the lawyers." ) But I have also been occasionally very pleasantly surprised by people and companies who will do things beyond what they are required to do in writing for various reasons-- they are just good people, it's the right thing to do (I know this one gets a lot of bad press), it is good for business, or even, what better marketing than to have someone on AA spilling their praises for going above and beyond for the next year.

I would contact someone from PS Audio very high up and talk to them. By phone is probably even better than email if possibly. Heck, if it goes horribly bad you are exactly where you are now. But if this becomes one of those occasions where human nature pleasantly surprises you, who knows what they may do. Even if they do not make you whole, that may do something else to help ease the pain. Give it a shot. Give them a chance to get some spectacularly good free advertising on AA.

Sorry to hear this.
I would contact PS Audio.
In my mind, a surge protector should protect the gear connected to it.
I bought once a few power bars from a rather cheap brand, Belkin. I use them for various appliances. They come with surge protection and Belkin states something like a 50k euros warranty to repair or change a component plugged into the bar, in case of a surge. Those bars cost is only 20 euros and they offer such warranty. Well, at least they claim it.

Which commercial grade surge suppressor are you using? Is your service more than 200A?

Both homes have 800 amp service; in the Cape I have Eaton, in Florida Surgex.

None whatsoever, they are both non-current limiting. Only positives from having them installed.

Ray.......Having heard Ivan's systems in both homes I have to say, only someone who hasn't heard the systems could ask that question. You need to visit Ivan. That thought will be erased from your mind forever! .

Is there a brand or model of whole house suppressor that you recommend?

Ray.......Take a look at Surge-X, Siemens, Ditek, Square-D, Leviton. All of these companies manufacture whole home surge protection devices. I use Ditek on my service panel.

Holy #$@! - how big a house needs an 800 amp service?

(The average home has a 100A or 200A service.)
