I never thought a power cable would make a difference with sound quality so I never replaced the stock power cable that comes in the box. I do replace the cheap rca cables. I took a chance, spent some money and replaced my power cables on my mc501's first, just one amp and heard a difference. I then replaced the other 501, my mc205 and mx136. the cable is much thicker, Im no cable expert, I don't know why it works but it does, perhaps due to the thickness and shielding. whatever the reason it DOES work. The sound is cleaner. Same with the cheap rca cables and the kmart thin speaker wire. c'mon you MUST hear a difference too. After all I have $6000 amps, i'm not going to use $10 speaker wire with red/yellow rca cables. imo, buy it, try it, let your ears decide, you won't be disappointed.

That's a potent statement! Which power cable is that?

Greg.......I got it now. All the products you use work, and the rest of us have been duped. I am glad this has finally been cleared up.

New question, since you brought up $6000 amps. Wouldn't a manufacturer like McIntosh, who could put together a "superior" A/C cord for much less than retail, build their amps with one if it made them sound better?

Not trying to be a wise guy, but I have never found cable changes to be audible, unless they were broken and not passing a signal! I have never understood how you prevent all of the cheap copper wire in voice coils, transformers, internal wiring and printed circuit board traces etc. from messing up whatever good the expensive cables are supposed to be doing? Expensive is up to the individual to determine and so is how someone enjoys their own system. What I can understand is that the mac man does enjoy his system more now than before. |

I had 30 day to try and return if they didn't work. Believe me I would have, im not into wasting money. I have purchased cables that I didn't hear a difference and DID return them. When I compared my $400.00 cables to $2000.00 cables I didn't hear enough difference to justify. I believe sometimes its bragging rights and sometimes you really hear a difference. It depends on YOUR ears. I can only assume Mac ships the standard black power cable to allow the customer to choose which cable work for them. Before you judge, buy some power cables with a 30 day return, try them, then submit your review. I think you'll hear a difference and keep them. Again, I don't understand why, maybe more cleaner power to the amps. OR go to kmart, best buy, whatever, and buy the thinnest speaker wire they have. run that from your amps to your speakers, then buy thicker wire, I'll bet you HEAR a difference.

Just so were clear, when I bought them, I didn't think they would change anything. I was hoping they didn't so I could say the same thing your stating but after plugging them in I stood back in awe with my mouth hitting the floor scratching my head.
