I had 2+2s for twenty some years.

All Acoustat panels are 8 x46 or 9 x 46 inches depending on the model here are a few pictures, even some having a bath.

Wecome to AA MrAcoustat!,

I just had to log in and make a comment. Those speakers your friend has are real monsters. The first time I heard Acoustats was in 1983 at the Boulder Sound Gallery in Boulder Colorado. They were so tall that the dealer had to remove the ceiling tiles. I was certainly impressed but no way to get them back on the plane as I was out there for a training class.

Sound Labs U-1s were a bit pricier. Imagine 2+2s with wider bandwidth, greater neutrality, and almost no beaming! The faceted panels really address that issue.

And remember, the Acoustats have been out of production for years.....

Great speakers though.
Sorry but this is a modified pair of Acoustat 1+1s ( 1984 ) i would put them up against ANY Martin Logan except the CLX because they are six times the price but i will put the Spectra 8800s against them any time i heard both and SORRY the CLX.s don't even come close, the Spectra 8800s where made with a pair of Spectra 6600s and a pair of 1+1s, the Martin Logan CLX,s coul not match the Spectra 6600s without subs and now the Spectra 8800s also have 2 JL,s F-112 Fanthom subwoofers, that's another beast completely i am not a subwoofer kind of guy BUT i must admit when well matched IT'S BETTER.
