No idea how that line of thinking was extracted from my post as I am advocating discussion and contributing from all sides. Definitely do not agree with the line of thinking that if a thread is not to one's liking that it should be removed for all, not to mention deeming the entire forum not worthy of their membership fee because of it's presence. My "point" was, if it bothers a member that much then don't read it. The topic headers are pretty crystal here and if all you want is audio discussion then you can easily tailor your experience for just that.

Moving on.

Excellent rifles and their 'national match' triggers are considered the best of the stock triggers if you aren't going to something like the Geissele or Timney competition triggers. As I rarely compete with my AR I use their NM trigger in their standard lower with a White Oak Precision upper with 7.7" twist Bartlein barrel.

I think the problem with this thread is its name. A number of folks have said, "Hey, this is the Shooting Sports Forum. It's not political". But the title of the thread is "The AR15: America's Best Defense Against Terror and Crime" which, together with the context of last week's mass murder with an AR15, makes this a highly inflammatory title/claim. Why push this claim and topic under the guise of sport? I don't see how you start a discussion of sport or a reasoned debate about guns today with that title.

The fundamental reality is that guns, knives, grenades, cars,.. etc.. etc... etc.. do not any harm on their own.

People kill people.

I would like a Phaser from Star trek myself.

Put it in stun and their done, no need to kill and they can not move, let someone else have the death of even killing a very bad person on their conscious... yes

So, if something like this were to take place at YOUR front door.......

which would you or your wife rather have in your hand?

An iPhone.....

or a firearm?

Sure, the cops will eventually show up but ask yourself this. Who would you rather see at the county morgue, yourself, a loved one, or the criminal?

It's not a trick question!

Dan....I think everybody will agree with you on that,

The question is should the public have the right to use something like this for self-protection :

It is like saying every country should have the right to defend themselves with Atomic weapons, or have the right to buy atomic weapons without discrimination!

For home defense and a South American dove hunt, I prefer the Benelli M4 Tactical Shotgun and a handgun.
