Because truth be known, folks, though they may deny it, like the most bass especially if it is of high quality. And Wilson bass is of extremely high quality.
I'm being sarcastic, because it looks like a mail slot. As bill points out, you can configure the port in the back, but then you'll have to use a cover plate in the front. To me, this is not a great looking feature. My only nitpick about an overall outstanding product.

I have to agree to a certain extent, and am curious if Bill might answer this...why not port on the bottom like many other designs? This seems (in theory at least) to solve both performance and aesthetic concerns. Not so easy in practice perhaps?

Because in some rooms porting to the front will provide better results and in others porting to the rear will. This is the exact same technique they started using with the XLF and it has worked out very well for them. One size does not fit all rooms.

Among the best I've ever heard. The room was definitely not ideal for a speaker like this, yet it impressed. What captured me the most was the effortless and realistic midrange. I've never heard a 4 way speaker, or at least I've never scrutinized one. Let me just say that I've heard a lot of wilson speakers in my life, but this one is special in the mids. It will captivate you with its emotional truth. Of course the bass was also spectacular. The progression mono meters barely moved. What a night.
How does the Alexx compare to Sasha 2?

Ummm there is no comparison, it is far, far more impressive. In every single category.

If you are shopping for speakers in the 100k range (who isn't, really), you need to hear them!
