Ray, the only thing I can offer you is that I had a pair of Rogue M180 mono blocks driving my Studio II's to perfection. I have no doubt the Apollos would be fantastic.

As for your room size, where do you find space to sit ? ....LOL

I had my Salon2s hooked up to my Mac 2301s, (300w tube monos), and they did a decent job with them, but did not have nearly the grip on them that my JC-1s did.
300w of tube power, left me wanting more, the 600w SS amp @ 6 Ohm, was more than enough.

The world's least satisfying answer: It all depends on what you listen to and your preferences but general advice would be the more clean power the better for these speakers. I personally wouldn't want any less than my 452 provides (450/ch) and I'd have more and perhaps will at some point. I had F208s and really liked them but the Salon 2 is in another class in most every respect, including power requirements and power handling.

Just in terms of difficult speakers to drive. When I first fell in love with my (now sold) Magnepan 1.7's, I mistakenly believed (because me dealer led me to that conclusion) that I could drive them with a 65 watt tube integrated amp. What a mistake that was. The speakers sounded flat and lifeless, nothing like the way they sounded during the demo sessions.

Then I discovered the Musical Fidelity 550K Superchargers. When I acquired a pair (now sold) and placed them in the system...WOW!... what a huge difference 750 watts made. Clarity, resolution, dynamics, all when off the charts. I was in love again. Downside. The system ran smoking hot!

Moral of the story? Good quality power cannot ever be dismissed or underestimated. If I owned the Salon 2's, I'd personally put a KW on them. Just my 2 cents gents.

Hi Ray. I heard both the salon 2 and f 228be in the same living room being driven by the same gear and the salon 2 used is the smart money. now for the amp. I'm not experienced with Rogue audio but my h360 is rated at 250 /8 and 425/4 with 4 digit damping factor and I personally wouldn't go less in my 18x28x7' room.
