I have been reviewing the silentPC type of music server power requirements.

We all know that having sufficient clean power is important.

How does the 150w PicoPSU cover this requirement?

Has anyone considered adding a more robust linear power supply to your DIY music server or even a mac mini?

I've Moved over to AnyDVD-HD and DVDFab. So far DVDFab is a very good product (easy to use for a client).

JRiver, and now in JRMC19 - doesn't like to rip dvds or bds to my standard.

The Pico does very well. It's overkill at 150w, but this is the one that has extremely high efficiency value, and also the only one that comes with the already included connections for power.

It has a simple 12V lead-in. I've been toying with the idea of upgraded power supplies as an option, but have yet to get anything on the drawing board. I'm not the biggest fan of the linear option... yet. Heat and size lead me away from that route.

E... I went with the Pico 150w too & will settle with the external 12v regulated switchmode (Streacomm) to begin with. The size & cost of a custom built linear power supply to suit is a bit daunting. I would probably want to commission a 300w vertically standing PSU to guarantee the headroom for whatever future project as such an investment is likely to outlast the current CAPS build spec I have on the table. As it stands I'm currently undecided on power upgrade.

Nice component choices BTW!

Guess that's why the Pico is a good choice for this type of project.

Nano=Pico.

Streacom is just trying to name it something else. Pico is what is selling from places like MoCoSo.

Beautiful. I love the elegant simplicity of the look.

You know, these builds are not that hard to do, but what's even easier and absolutely assured of high quality is to PM E and grab one of his E Silent PC's. Nothing better. (sorry about the shameless plug. just couldn't help myself)
