D1100 sent out to a service center. 7-10 business days before they can even take a look. Sigh.
The good news is that I can use the Oppo 205 as a DAC and keep enjoying my music until the D1100 comes back.

I hear back from Chuck or Jordan in 24 hours or less, and once engaged they follow through diligently until I am satisfied. Good luck.

Sorry if I missed this, was there a specific problem you were hoping to correct by updating the firmware?

Yes, two things:
1. I was hoping to fix the 1 sec mute I have every time I start playing a track.
2. I always like having the most up to date version, hoping other things that I haven’t noticed were fixed/improved upon.

Or ... go to a great used record store near you and buy a bunch of great old records you've been wanting and by the time you make it through the stack your DAC will be home!

The D1100 just came back! The baby and the father are well.
Notes from the service center: unit un-bricked, board fixed, firmware updated to 1.03.
"Only" took 3 weeks :-)

I am not aware of any problem with the board. I think this was their way to say that they had to reset the board in order to complete the upgrade.
