Source 2 - Avid Acutus SP reference + Thales Reference tone arm + Benz Micro LPS (DS Audio Master 1 broken tip repaired but cost me USD2k. Still having issues - channel imbalance - back to dealer. However, channel issues not withstanding, sounded very very nice. Need to get it back soonest)

Source 3 - DCS Vivaldi + Antelope reference clock or Cybershaft Op18 (not floating my boat so far)

Source 5 - ROON ROCK with Aurender W20 as NAS & 2 units of SOTM switch with 10M input (the new frontier but still cannot beat CD for now) - ROON endpoint - Vivaldi upsampler

Amplification - Naim Statement

Speakers - ProAc Carbon 8 + JL FM113 x2 (replacement purchased - Stella Utopia EVO but due to lockdown, could be a year's wait)

Purepower 2000 x 2 (&$@#% but
sounds nice)

I have recently changed the BNC 75ohm cables from the clock to Nordest Valhalla. The improvement in clarity and smoothness is very obvious. Anyone using the dCS clock should really consider better digital cables between it and other Vivaldi gears. Originally I have doubt on its effectiveness but now I'm convinced.

TLi,

Try the best digital cable you have to the clock.

Might be pleasantly surprised that it may make a better improvement than using it for you transport to DAC.

When i had my dcs vivaldi stack, i got great result using siltech golden eagle 75 for the clock cables and they made quite a difference! Clock cable should not be under estimated! They make as much impact as signal cable...

I have just brought a GPS disciplined oscillator. It is a US$120 DIY clock with GPS antenna. I connect the 10MHz output to reference in of Vivaldi clock.

There is good improvement in space and sound stage. All focus are sharpened up, articulation is much better.

It is very easy to A/B test the effect with and without 10MHz reference. The sound is like the system with and without the external clock at all.

For this small amount of money, anyone with the Vivaldi clock should really give it a try. There is certainly no harm done.

I brought the GPDDO from ÌÔ±¦º£ÍâÈ«ÇòÕ¾Ê×Ò³. It is a GPS DISCIPLINED CLOCK.

GPSDO

It is kind of like Chinese version of ebay, very efficient and safe.

Interesting. Here is a datasheet of MV89a 10MHz Double Oven Controlled Xtal Oscillator used: http://pe9ghz.org/cmsms/uploads/pdf/MV89-OCXO.pdf

It is Russian made ... probably used in MIG29s
